Steatite Connectors

Steatite is an alternative to ceramics. This material consists to about 90 % of soapstone, a very soft mineral. It can be
shaped easily, and a temperature treatment at roughly 1300 °C, including diverse additives, will provide it with special
properties.

Advantages in comparison to ceramics:

• higher density
• better value concerning bending and compression strength as well as elasticity
• higher dielectric strength

Other properties:

• non-inflammable
• temperature-resistant, dimensional stability up to 1000 °C (housing may get in contact with hot objects, but the surrounding temperature should not exceed 200 °C because otherwise, the scaling temperature of brass inserts will be reached)
